Sports Coaching Group is looking to hire apprentices for its Level 2 Level Community Activator Coach apprenticeship

Sports Coaching Group is looking for applicants for its Level 2 Community Activator Coach apprenticeship, offering an exciting first step into a career in sport.

Based in Cheshire, Sports Coaching Group works with schools across the north west, delivering high-quality PE provision, extra-curricular clubs, wellbeing programmes and swimming.

During school holidays, the team also runs popular holiday clubs, combining sport-specific sessions with multi-sport activities to keep children active, engaged and learning.

At the heart of everything is a commitment to inclusion.

The organisation prides itself on creating opportunities for all young people to take part in sport, helping to develop essential life and movement skills while promoting a ‘sport for life’ ethos.

The Level 2 Community Activator Coach apprenticeship is designed as a practical pathway into the industry.

Over 14–18 months, apprentices will gain hands-on experience in real coaching environments while working towards a recognised qualification.

The programme includes a blend of written coursework, assessments and practical observations, supported by experienced tutors and a knowledgeable coaching team.

Apprentices will have the opportunity to learn directly from head coaches, building confidence and developing their delivery across a range of settings.

There is also clear scope for progression within the organisation, with opportunities spanning areas such as swimming, alternative provision and wider coaching roles.

The role offers a competitive salary, alongside a mileage scheme and bonus incentives.

Apprentices will work 25 hours per week and are entitled to annual leave, making it a structured yet flexible entry into the profession.

Applicants should hold a minimum of GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English, with PE preferred. While prior coaching experience is not essential, it would be advantageous.

Applications are open until May 31, with open interview and meet-and-greet days scheduled for the week commencing June 22. Final decisions will be made within two weeks of the interview process.

For those looking to begin a rewarding career in sport and make a positive impact on young people, this apprenticeship offers a strong foundation to build from.
