Cheshire-based Sports Coaching Group celebrates 15 years with fund-raising events, golf day, anniversary party and a day at the races

Sports Coaching Groupo runs holiday clubs at Sandbach School

Sports Coaching Group is inviting staff, customers, partners and supporters to join a week-long programme of celebrations as the organisation marks its 15th anniversary.

The company, which has supported thousands of children and families since launching in 2011, will celebrate the milestone with a series of events while raising money for two important causes – MIND and the Emphasis Community Interest Company.

The celebrations involve:

Saturday, July 11 – Staff celebration at Chester Races;

Monday, July 13 – Charity bike ride begins, with Tom Kesteven and Lucas Turner setting off to visit all 41 Sports Coaching Group partner schools;

Tuesday, July 14 – Charity Golf Day at Tytherington Golf Club;

Tuesday, July 14 – Anniversary Party at Radley’s, Congleton, for staff, families, customers, partners and friends of the organisation;

Friday, July 17 – Charity bike ride finishes at SportsZone, Sandbach, at approximately 6.30pm, followed by a welcome-back celebration.

Throughout the week, Sports Coaching Group will be raising funds for two causes that are central to its values.

Money raised for the Emphasis Community Interest Company will help provide free holiday club places for children who may otherwise miss out on opportunities to stay active, make friends and enjoy enriching experiences during the school holidays.

The celebrations will also support MIND in memory of former Operations Manager James Ellwood, a highly-respected member of the Sports Coaching Group family whose legacy continues to inspire colleagues across the organisation.

Commercial Director Charlie Chorlton said: “Reaching 15 years is a fantastic achievement and gives us an opportunity to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve been on alongside our staff, schools, families and partners.

“While we want to celebrate everything that has been achieved since 2011, it was important that our anniversary also gave something back.

“That’s why we’re supporting two causes that mean a great deal to us, helping create opportunities for children through the Emphasis Community Interest Company and supporting MIND in memory of James Ellwood.

“We’d love as many people as possible to get involved, whether that’s attending one of the events, making a donation or sponsoring the golf day or bike ride.”

A GoFundMe page has been launched ahead of the celebrations, with all donations supporting the two chosen charities.

During the years the organisation has expanded with the development of sister companies that complement and extend the original vision:

These are:

  • Sportscape Education: A partner and sister company under the EMPHASIS umbrella, offering apprenticeships and education programmes designed to develop future coaches and support teaching staff in sport and education;
  • SportsZone, a vibrant Sandbach venue offering multi-activity experiences such as golf sims, darts, pool, live TV sport, which enhances the group’s community engagement and provides additional active leisure options for families and young people. Not only is it a social venue, but it opens up as a holiday venue for teens and during the day some alternative education provision;
  • ScrubsUK.com, part of the Uniform Group, supplies premium healthcare workwear that resonates with professionalism and comfort;
  • TeamwearUK, and UniformsUK, also under the Uniform Group, supporting schools, clubs and organisations with high-quality teamwear and uniform.

The firm also has a Pools to YOU initiative, where portable pools are taken to schools and high-quality swimming lessons are delivered.

Thousands of children have benefited from high-quality swimming instruction without leaving their school site.
