The wheels are officially in motion as Sports Coaching Group begins a memorable week of celebrations to mark its 15th anniversary, with two members of the team embarking on an inspiring 300-mile charity cycle ride.
Today (Monday, July 13), Tom Kesteven and Lucas Turner set off on an epic five-day journey that will see them visit 41 partner schools across Cheshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire.
The challenge is not only a celebration of Sports Coaching Group’s journey over the past 15 years, but also an opportunity to give back to the communities that have supported the organisation since 2011.
Throughout the ride, Tom and Lucas are raising money for two causes that are incredibly important to everyone at Sports Coaching Group.
Funds raised for EMPHASIS Foundation CIC, the organisation’s parent company, will help provide free holiday club places for children who may otherwise miss out on fun, active and enriching experiences during the school holidays.
The pair are also raising money for Mind in memory of former Operations Manager James Ellwood, whose passion, leadership and commitment helped shape Sports Coaching Group during its early years.
Although it has been 10 years since James sadly passed away, his legacy continues to inspire colleagues across the organisation every day.
The charity cycle ride marks the beginning of a week of special anniversary celebrations, which also includes a corporate golf day and an evening celebration bringing together colleagues, partners, schools and supporters who have played a part in Sports Coaching Group’s success over the past 15 years.
