Sports Coaching Group is playing a role in an inspiring initiative designed to help more girls feel confident, included and engaged in physical activity.
Coach Lucy Rookes has been working alongside Together Active’s Charlotte Barnard to support the delivery of the Move Your Way festival in Stoke-on-Trent.
The festival forms part of Sport England’s This Girl Can campaign, which aims to inspire women and girls to get active, regardless of ability, body shape, background or skill level.
Move Your Way itself is a year-long initiative focused on supporting girls across Stoke-on-Trent to build confidence and develop a positive relationship with being active.
At its core, the programme is shaped by listening, ensuring that the voices of young people directly influence the opportunities created for them.
This approach has helped to create a series of experiences that feel inclusive, creative and empowering, moving away from traditional formats that can sometimes feel repetitive or intimidating.
As part of the latest festival activity, Lucy and Charlotte delivered an engaging archery session, giving girls the chance to try something different in a relaxed and supportive environment.
The session encouraged participants to step outside their comfort zones, learn new skills and, most importantly, enjoy being active.
Every aspect of Move Your Way is designed with confidence-building in mind.
From the activities themselves to the environment in which they are delivered, the focus is on making movement accessible and enjoyable for everyone involved.
The programme continues to demonstrate the impact of collaboration, with Sports Coaching Group working alongside Together Active and ‘This Girl Can‘ to break down barriers and open up new opportunities for young people.
We’re proud to be part of an initiative that is helping more girls discover that there is no single way to be active, only the way that works for them.
