Sports Coaching Group: Why we’ve changed the name of our holiday clubs to Sport and Multi-Activity – what it means for your child

Sports Coaching Group's Easter holiday clubs have been renamed Sport and Multi-activity Holiday Clubs

If you’ve attended one of our holiday clubs before, you may notice something slightly different this Easter – a new name.

Our holiday clubs are now called Sport and Multi-Activity Holiday Clubs, and we wanted to explain clearly to parents why we’ve made this change and what it means for children attending.

The most important thing to say first is that what children experience at camp hasn’t changed – it’s simply the way we describe it.

For many years, families have known us for sport.

Physical activity remains a big part of what we do, helping children stay active, build confidence and develop teamwork skills during the school holidays.

However, anyone who has attended our camps knows that the days have always included much more than sport alone.

Alongside games and physical challenges, children regularly take part in creative activities, themed challenges, problem-solving tasks and group games designed to encourage friendship, imagination and enjoyment.

Over time, we realised that our previous name didn’t fully reflect the variety of experiences available, particularly for children who may not see themselves as “sporty”.

By updating the name to Sport and Multi-Activity, we hope it better represents the welcoming and inclusive environment families already know, one where every child can find something they enjoy.

To help bring this approach together, our activities are now grouped into three simple areas:

Move – sports and active games that keep children physically engaged;
Play – fun, themed activities focused on teamwork and enjoyment;
Explore – creative challenges, crafts and problem-solving activities.

Each day, children help shape their timetable by choosing activities from these areas, giving them a sense of ownership and helping ensure there is a balance of energy, creativity and fun.

You’ll also still see popular themed days throughout the holidays, including Glow in the Dark, Nerf, Gladiator and seasonal celebrations – all designed to keep the experience fresh and exciting.

Ultimately, the change is about clarity. We want parents to feel confident that our holiday clubs offer something for every child, whether they love sport, creativity, social play or a bit of everything.

The name may be new, but our aim remains the same: providing a safe, supportive and enjoyable place where children can stay active, make friends and have a great school holiday.
