Sports Coaching Group staff training day: Safeguarding, First Aid, special educational needs support and PE development for the new academic year

Sports Coaching Group's annual training day

Sports Coaching Group has just held its training day for staff – one of the highlights of the year for the company.

During the day coaches come together to reflect, learn, and prepare for the year ahead.

It’s an invaluable opportunity to ensure that every session delivered – from PE lessons to after-school clubs and holiday childcare – meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and engagement.

During the day, the team focused on key areas that underpin excellent coaching and teaching.

This included looking at policies and procedures, reinforcing safeguarding practices, and refreshed first aid knowledge to ensure every child in our care is supported and protected.

Standards across all sessions were revisited, helping the coaches deliver consistent, professional, and engaging activities.

Sports Coaching Group has held a training day for staff.

At the event there were two guest speakers who shared expert insight on supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) and effective questioning techniques to help children learn and develop through active participation.

These sessions help our team understand how to adapt activities and interactions to suit every child’s needs, ensuring inclusion and engagement in all our programmes.

The training day also focused on curricular and extra-curricular session development, giving coaches practical tools and creative ideas for PE lessons, after-school clubs, and wider childcare provision.

Team bonding activities strengthened collaboration and shared learning, fostering a culture of support, innovation, and excellence across Sports Coaching Group.

This day ensures that every child experiences safe, stimulating, and high-quality sessions, whether they’re enjoying sports, games, or structured learning activities.
