Sports Coaching Group and parent company Emphasis Community Interest Company have teamed up with a local cricket club to bring a community initiative to Sandbach – a ‘Warm Place of Welcome’.
From Monday, September 22, Elworth Cricket Club will host weekly sessions every Monday morning from 10am to 11:30am, designed to bring people together, promote wellbeing, and offer a safe and welcoming space.
The programme is open to anyone aged 50+ and is completely free of charge.

Visitors can enjoy free bottomless tea and coffee, friendly conversation, and a wide range of engaging activities.
While the sessions include chair-based and low-impact exercise to help keep everyone active, the focus goes far beyond fitness.
Attendees can also look forward to quizzes, bingo, and other light-hearted activities that encourage laughter and connection.
The aim is simple: to create a warm, welcoming environment where people can meet new friends, stay active, and feel part of the community.
Lucy Rookes, Project Coordinator at Sports Coaching Group, said: βWe want to make sure everyone feels welcome – itβs not just about exercise, but about creating a space where people can chat, laugh, and feel part of something positive. Itβs about community, connection, and wellbeing.β
The initiative is part of Elworth Cricket Club in the Community, with support from Sports Coaching Group and Emphasis, who are committed to improving the health and happiness of local residents.
