Inclusive PE: How Sports Coaching Group’s new PE bingo sheets keep all pupils engaged in physical education

Sports Coaching Group's PE bingo

At Sports Coaching Group, our mission is to deliver inclusive, engaging, and high-quality PE for every child.

As part of that commitment, our Head of Coaching, Jordan Lakin, continues to lead the way in developing tools and strategies to support our coaching team across Cheshire, Staffordshire, and Shropshire.

One of the most recent innovations introduced is the PE Bingo Sheet – a resource designed specifically for pupils who are unable to physically take part in PE lessons.

Rather than sitting out, these children can remain engaged in the session by observing and completing bingo-style challenges related to the lesson’s learning objectives.

Each sheet encourages pupils to focus on specific skills, behaviours, and teamwork elements they can observe from their peers.

From identifying leadership qualities to recognising examples of good technique, the PE Bingo Sheet keeps children mentally involved, promotes understanding, and supports classroom inclusion.

This initiative builds on the foundations of the STEP framework (Space, Task, Equipment, People), which Mr. Lakin continues to champion as a vital tool for adapting PE activities to meet individual needs.

“Inclusion is at the heart of what we do,” said Mr. Lakin.

“We want every child to feel part of the session, regardless of ability or circumstance. Tools like the PE Bingo Sheet are small changes that can make a big impact.”

The introduction of this resource is already receiving positive feedback from partner schools, with coaches eager to put it into practice and share results.

As Sports Coaching Group continues to grow its impact in schools across the region, innovations like these underline our belief that PE should be for everyone – and that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, participate, and thrive.
